Review: Clio Gelpresso Liners in “Bloody” Colours

The girls around me are generally quite safe when it comes to cosmetic selection. Hardly anyone I know of knows how to apply eyeshadow and not to mention, coloured eyeliners. As for me, I really love playing with eyeshadow colours, but I know it is not something I would use everyday due to the lack of time.

To be honest, ever since I started working, my preparation time went down from one hour to only 30 mins. Because I would rather sleep in than spend hour drawing my face. With 30 mins, the items I use on my face should be easy and fast to use. No time for eyeshadow? Coloured eyeliners can actually do a wonderful job in adding colours to your eyes!

I had a surprise package from Clio recently that consists of three gelpresso liners. I used to love gel liners until I hate it that I had to clean my brushes with every use. So glad that Clio came up with the idea of gel liners in pencil form and that means no more cleaning of brushes!

The three colours given to me were bloody angel, bloody devil and bloody sweet. Yeah…I know..sounds abit bloody. But that’s precisely the case cos all three colours belong to the RED family.

From top to bottom: Bloody Devil, Bloody Angel and Bloody Sweet

My favourite has got to be Bloody Devil, which is a dark purplish red that is safe to use for all occasions. I like that it adds colour to my eyes without over exaggerating. And it is rather soft looking as compared to using liquid liner which can be too harsh at times.

My attempt on using all three colours! First, I had applied bloody devil as my base liner, and then I applied bloody angel at the ends, above my base liner for a subtle pop of colour, mimicking that of an eyeshadow, and lastly bloody sweet at the corners of my eyes to open up my eyes. I’m pretty pleased with the result! Do try it. Coloured liners are not that difficult to use. In fact, it can be easier to use than eyeshadows which requires the art of blending.

My eyes instantly look bigger without using harsh eyeliners. Also, I find the bloody colours make my eyes look watery than usual!

Taking a closer look … how do you find it? I’m definitely loving the pop of colour on my eyes!

(Anw…my blusher is from Etude House Lovely Cookie Blusher in Blueberry Pie and I love it!)

The only thing about this eyeliner is that it is thicker than usual and goes blunt easily, therefore it requires frequent sharpening. It is also quite easily broken.

But the innovative design has included a sharpener on top of the liner! How genius!
The eyeliner also live up to its claim and didn’t smudge for the whole day! Nots bads!

Overall, I’m pretty satisfied with the liner and would rate it an 8/10.

All Clio liners can be found in Watsons.

Fav Makeup Products

I have finally finally cleared all my backlogs and that means I have more space and time to post about things I purchased myself and things that I really love! Not that I don’t love the stuff sponsored to me, some are indeed impressive! Just that, nothing beats reviews of my very own purchase, isn’t it? Also, I have not been accepting new sponsorship lately because I simply have no time to stick to the datelines given to me.

Today I’m gonna talk about some of the makeup products I really love but has never been mentioned on this platform. The usual raves would be my mascara, eyeliner and foundation. So this time round, I’m gonna talk about something else!

And that is lipstick, concealer and eyebrow liner.

Everyone knows I’ve been searching for the perfect concealer and I think I’ve found mine with Makeup Forever. Under my friend’s recommendation, I bought Makeup Forever Full Cover Concealer. It was pretty expensive so I was a bit apprehensive when I first purchased it, but I found it so amazing after trying it on my face!

It has a creamy texture which can be blended easily yet stays put throughout the day. It also has pretty good coverage! I remembered there was once my sister complimented my skin and asked if I put anything on as she couldn’t see much of my acne scars and redness. I then told her I had used the concealer! She was awed by it and gave it a try and she agreed that it was awesome! Also, I had no issue with the colour. It just blended into my skintone.

Ever since I was introduced to K Palette, I’ve never jumped out of it. Besides its liner, I also love their eyebrow liner (Real Lasting 24H Eyebrow). This is my third eyebrow liner from K Palette.

Because it’s a liquid eyebrow liner, the colour stays on throughout the day without having the need to reapply like eyebrow pencils. It is also very easy to draw it on. You don’t have to worry about using too much as it goes on pretty faint.

And then, it is the gorgeous lipstick from Etude House PPK002. I admit I gave in to the princessy packaging. Apologies for the lipstick colour portrayed in this picture. The lipstick is supposed to be a purplish pink not red.

The formula of the lipstick is pretty smooth and moisturizing.

Even without any gloss, this lipstick looks shiny on the lips without overdoing it. I actually hate lip gloss! This lip colour compliments my skintone as well!

I hope you love my reviews and I’ll be looking forward to sharing my beauty faves of my very own purchases. :)

Review: Dasoda Eyeliner and Concealor

It’s long weekend all thanks to Good Friday!! How are you girls enjoying the long weekend? I’m going to take a day’s off from work and recharge my battery before I start to do my work again. As my boss said, we need to learn how to manage energy instead of time. And when we do that, we’ll find that we are able to accomplish more things in the end and of course feel happier.

Check out my FOTD!
Base Makeup: Za Two Way Cake Foundation (One of my everyday to go foundation that I always use)
Eyebrow: K Palette Liquid
Eyeliner: Dasoda Liquid Liner (Sponsored by Sasa)
Mascara: Heroine Make Long + Volume
Blusher: Za in Strawberry

Today’s focus will be on my eyes! I have received Dasoda’s products some time back and I haven’t really got down to writing it as I wasn’t really sure how I felt towards them. You know sometimes you get some products and you felt that they are okay but just not for you?

The Dasoda Liquid Liner isn’t the most pigmented liner that I’ve used, but they are definitely smooth enough to draw on my eyes and the black is of enough intensity on the eyes.

It is said to be water proof that can resist sebum, tears and water. HOWEVER, it is definitely not smudge proof. With a slight rub, the liner came off easily. I also find that it doesn’t dry fast. When I place my curler near the roots of my lashes, some of my liner came off and I have to re-draw.

The good thing about this liner is that I can wing it easily as the brush tip isn’t too thick.

I would give this liner a 7/10, but it doesn’t beat my holy grail liner definitely!

The next item is a liquid concealor that can double up as a highlighter as well. I have good experience using L’oreal’s magique pen and was wondering how it would fare against that.

The concealor dispenses out with a click. But when it is brand new, I had to literally click a hundred times before anything comes out. Initially I thought mine was faulty until I found out that a fellow blogger, Herine,  also experience the same thing!

I like the texture and the coverage but NOT THE COLOUR! As you can tell, it is way off my original skin colour. This is too yellow for my skintone. I’m a Mac NW20, Za PO10/Za21.

When I apply it on my skin, I look like I have discoloration.

So despite it being a good product, this is not for me.
I rate it a 6/10.

Dasoda’s products are of okay standard just not for me.
You can check them out at Sasa!

Thanks for reading and HAPPY HOLIDAY! :)

Holy Grail: K Palette’s Improved Eyeliner

My favourite eyeliner brand K Palette sent me a newer improved version of their 24H Real Lasting Eyeliner, WP Super Black. And it came with a handwritten card. AWWWW.

The newer formula is said to be even water proof and smudge proof that withstnads water, sweat and skin sebum!
Tried and tested! This eyeliner is extremely smudge proof that I always come home with beautiful eyes.(if only eyeliner is applied. My mascara smudge on me sometimes.)

Super Black intensity so that you can skip the hassle of drawing it over and over again. The eyeliner also comes with a patented micro-fibre fine brush tip for superb control and ease of drawing.

There are additional beauty essences added in the new formula – Hyaluronic acid Na, Water soluble collagen and Swertia Japonica essence, so that you can care your lid while drawing on it. But, well … I don’t think drawing a single thin line will help much though.

This is the way I love to draw my eyeliner most of the time.

I find that the newer improved version is easier to remove at the end of the day! Just a simple wipe and it’s gone. No need to tug my eyes anymore.

And when you want to have some fun with your eyeliner, try drawing some bottom lashes with it! Kawaii ne! This is a look that I created LONG TIME BACK using K Palette’s liner. Told you I am a fan long time back. :D

So girls, start drawing and have some fun!

Makeup for CNY

It’s the second day of the lunar new year and I decided to blog since I’ve not much visitings to do on this day. Honestly, this year I’m not trying out any new makeup techniques like the rest of the years. Instead, I’m sticking to the usual two-tone eyeshadow application. Eyeliner application is simply black with a little wing at the back. No fancy colours or anything. But I’m really liking my makeup today. In fact it looks better than my first day of makeup so here it goes!

Products used are all my holy grails!
Za Perfect Fit  two way cake foundation in PO10 (Latest)
K Palette Eyeliner
Za Mascara Base
Heroine Make Long and Curl Mascara
L’oreal infallible eyeshadow in hourglass beige and all night blue

I haven’t mention this in my blog yet but I’m really really loving the new Za two way cake foundation. They have more shades available now and PO10 blends into my skintone pretty well. I compared the shade to my previous Za21 and they are almost the same except that PO10 is more pink than Za21. For a powder foundation, Za definitely has good coverage. Blemishes’ marks and pores were minimized after application. The powder is so much more fine than before and it doesn’t gives a cakey look due to its moisturizing ingredients. In fact there’s a glow on my face despite it being a powder foundation! I also like it that it contains anti-shine powder to keep excess sebum at bay for 8 hours. I’ve been wearing it for 7 hours and other than my nose, my entire makeup looks fresh and sebum free.

The L’oreal Infallible eyeshadow is da bombz! They are pigmented and long lasting! The beige colour is one of my favourite everyday colour. Applying it alone brightens up my eyelid! Midnight blue however looks darker when applied than how it looks like in the pot.

Happy new year and gong xi fa cai! :)

Hello Kitty Limited Set Makeup

I was sponsored the hello kitty limited makeup set for review recently that consists of kawaii duo shadow, Tokyo hit blush, magnetic lip gloss and the pretty mascara. If anything, the packaging is too cute to be missed. I’m sure the kitty fans would love this! This limited set also come with the kitty pouch which is very useful as a handy makeup pouch.

And since the new year is coming, I’m sure many girls would want to doll up! If you are new to eye shadow application, follow till the end of this post for a simple tutorial! :)

Kawaii Duo Shadow – $14.90
This eyeshadow consists of brown and gold which is very suitable for everyday use. If you are a beginner, it is definitely safe to start with this! It is usually hard to be wrong with the browns.

The colour goes on subtly and needs at least two application for the colour to turn out beautifully.

Hello Kitty Pretty Mascara – $18.90

This mascara promises length and volume due to the fibre brush. So did it does what it promises?

Length yes …volume not so. And the colour is not as black as I would love it to be. It also does not have curling power. Not my holy grail mascara definitely. But this mascara is easily washed away though!

Tokyo Hit Blush – $17.90

The blusher goes on sheer so it’s harder to make mistake that way. The colour is buildable on the skin.

Hello Kitty Magnetic Gloss – $18.90

I have not tried the gloss yet because I have too many at home! But the colour does look attractive to me though! It seems to contain shimmers as well.

Okay …here’s a little pictorial description on how to use the eyeshadow!

1. Apply the gold shadow all over the lid and crease. Pat it on instead of swiping the colour for better pigmentation.
2. Apply the brown shadow on the outer V all the way up to half of the crease. This will create a deeper set of eyes.
3. Use the brown shadow and apply on half of the outer lower lid.
4. Draw the eyeliner as close to the lashes as possible
5.  Use a pearl eyeshadow/liner and line the inner corner to open up the eyes.
6. Apply two coats of mascara

For convenience sake, get a wipe!

There were many times when I didn’t know what to eat for lunch and didn’t want to get changed and buy food, so I grabbed a packet of instant noodles, fried myself some nuggets using air fryer and called it my lunch. The fact that it is so convenient lured me to do it again and again.

I’m such a lazy bum at times.

Whenever I return home from a social gathering, I get so tired that all I want to do is to sit in front of computer and not go anywhere else. Even removing makeup can be quite a chore at times. The fact that cleaning my makeup can take at least a 15 mins turns me off. I need quick solution! Like instant noodles, this is when I turn to remover wipes above anything else.

How to create Korean’s skin with makeup

Hello girls! Recently I attended L’oreal’s event launching the new magique series that includes a primer, foundation and a touch up pen! And my apologies for not having any event photos this time round as my camera died on me!! The venue was rather dark as it was held at a spa pent house which is supposed to be relaxing, so my phone’s camera couldn’t save me either.

Anyhoos, this new magique series is about creating porcelain, flawless skin like that of a K Pop Star! I was hoping to get my hands on these products as soon as I heard about it and my so glad my wish is granted!! ^-^

The thing about a Korean’s base makeup is that they look translucent, dewy and flawless. I’ve been in love with this type of base makeup for the longest time. Their skin just look perfect in any angle.

In the past, to get this look, I would use BB cream + concealor + highlighter. It wasn’t easy to find a good highlighter that doesn’t look as if you have highlighter on. Most of the time the shimmers were too much for me to handle. It just doesn’t look natural. What I want to achieve is glow from within. And BB creams are good for natural look but most of the time, they have pretty light coverage that doesn’t covers scars well.

For this look above, I’ve used all three products to create a porcelain flawless skin. Ahem, pardon if I praise myself like this. lolol. But don’t you agree the glow makes my skin look so good and my features sharper?!

The first step is to use their pure light primer that promises lit from within the complexion! This is what makes a difference in the makeup!

The texture of the primer is really watery and easy to blend. There are no obvious shimmers in the primer but it simply just makes your skin glow without the shimmers. Love it.
To use it: Using the “CCTV” Technique dab on the apples of your cheek in “C” shape, T zone in “T” shape and chin in “V” Shape.

Then apply the light-infusing foundation all over the skin.

I am using “N2″ shade which is the second lightest shade in the series. What I love about this foundation is that it is not thick and easy to blend in. It covers well and is buildable. I haven’t been able to find a good drugstore liquid foundation but now I’m convinced with L’oreal’s!

*Tip: Do not apply anything on the eye area first as it tends to be dry and may cake easily when you load too much products on it. Leave it till the last.

Use the Magique Touch up pen next as a concealor and a highlighter!

It dispenses the product on the brush. The brush was a little stiff at first but now all’s good after a few usage.

Dab it in the area as shown – T zone, dark eye circles, laugh lines and chin!

And the whole look is completed!

I also use it in my Taiwan’s trip and am so loving it!! Love the glow!

Celebrate Xmas with Clinique!

Was invited to Clinique Event recently…

and was greeted by the beautiful Xmas products decoration on the table!

Lots of beautiful gift sets this Xmas.

You probably have heard of Clinique’s 3 steps skincare system:
Step 1: Cleanse
Step 2: Gentle Exfoliation
Step 3: Moisturize (Dramatically different moisturizing gel/lotion)

In Clinique, they believe that these are the 3 simple steps that you need to do to achieve flawless clear skin. At the counter, their staff will help to do an analysis of your skin and group your skin into 4 categories:
Type 1: Dry
Type 2: Dry Combi
Type 3: Oily Combi
Type 4: Oily

After analysis they will then advise you on a suitable 3 steps skincare regime. I, myself is a fan of their moisturizer and I’m currently using it! I was told that I’m of a type 2 – Dry Combination. I like it that their skincare is categorized as such to fit all types of skin. Their products are fragrance free and it is allergy tested so it is said to be suitable even for the sensitive skin. However after trying out some of their products, I find that if you are allergic to alcohol you should avoid them as some of the products do contain some alcohol.

Since December is around the corner, I’m pretty sure everyone is travelling for some winter time! Never forget to moisturize your skin as skin can get rather dry during the colder months. Try moisture surge for extra hydration boost. The texture is nice…not too heavy or greasy!

Here’s Nance showing us her bare skin! She said she started using Clinique products 6 months ago and now she can go out without makeup as her skin is pretty much flawless! She’s not using any foundation on the skin except a tinted sunblock which is none other than …

Clinique Derma-white City Block! I was quite excited to try this out on my skin!

As a tinted sunblock, this texture is slightly thick and resembles a BB cream. It covers my redness and some imperfections. I would say that on normal days, I can actually just go out with only the sunblock!

On other days, for a more polished look, go for their liquid foundation.

Their liquid foundation has good coverage on the skin!

To cover blemishes, try their concealor too!

Lastly, set the makeup with some loose powder.

Here’s the finished look! I am pretty pleased with the end results.

We ended off the event with a group picture of course! :)

Review: BRTC BB Cream

Sponsored

Today I’ll be introducing you to 4 BRTC BB Creams that are available at Sasa!

From Left to Right: Jasmine Water BB Cream, Aqua Rush Water Drop BB Cream, Whitening and Repairing BB Cream and Gold Caviar BB Cream.

All 4 of these BB Creams are designed to cater to different skin needs.
Jasmine – Sensitive Skin
Aqua – Dry Skin
Whitening – Whitening/Anti-aging
Gold Caviar – Anti-aging

As you all know, I am a big fan of BB cream and I have my own favourite BB creams to use. Will these BB creams win my current favourite? Let’s check it out!

Colour Swatch

Firstly, here’s a colour swatch of all 4 BB cream. As you can probably tell, Jasmine BB cream has a slightly pinkish undertone to it, Aqua is slightly yellow, whitening is on the fairer side and gold caviar is a little on the dark side.

Judging from the swatches, my first pick would be Jasmine BB cream. After trying it out on my skin, Jasmine BB cream blends in well into my skin without looking too fair or grey. Aqua BB cream would be suitable for people with yellow undertone. The Whitening BB cream is a little too fair for me and needless to say, Gold Caviar is too dark for me.

Coverage

To test the coverage, I drew 4 stars on my skin with my K Palette Eyeliner and I dab on some BB cream to see whether they can cover the black stars.

From Left to Right: Jasmine, Aqua, Whitening, Gold Caviar

As you can probably tell, the Whitening BB cream has the most coverage but it is also the fairest colour. I also find the Whitening BB cream to be a little too thick for my liking. It is definitely too fair for me. The rest of the BB creams has medium to high coverage which is adequate for daily usage. As for the Aqua BB Cream, it is the lightest in texture and coverage but it is also slightly more oily than the rest as my eyeliner smudges. But I guess the only reason why is because this is for the dry skin.

Lasting Power

For this, I find that all BB creams lasted for 3 to 4 hours before I need to blot. They are not good in oil control as I’ve used better BB creams that control the oil better.

My choice out of these 4 BB creams would be Jasmine Water BB Cream. Upon application, there is a strong scent of Jasmine. It has pretty good coverage. The down side is that the texture is a little thick so it can be rather difficult to spread across the face.

This picture illustrates the use of Jasmine Water BB Cream. As you can tell, I have pigmentation problems due to post acne and freckles. This BB cream does give me a good coverage even without any concealor! Although I prefer my current BB cream, I will not deny that this is a pretty decent BB cream to use. I will be passing this to my friend since it’s her favourite BB cream! :)

Exclusively available at S$32 each in selected SaSa Stores.
