Nails for the Chinese New Year

Every Chinese New Year, I always do my nails myself. Other than beauty events where we have complimentary nail services, I never step into a nail parlour to do my nails. I don’t like all that extra sanding, buffing and pushing the cuticles services as I believe it is spoiling my nails in the long run. My nails are always strong and long and the cuticles never peel at all even though I do not visit a manicurist. If I ever step into the nail parlour, I would make sure that they don’t buff my nail bed. I’m also not a fan of gelish as they tend to dry up my nails and roughen the surface.

This year, I decided to glam up my nails using Etude House’s Etoinette Nail Set which consists of three nail polishes and one piece of decal stickers. I was immediately attracted to it when I see it on fellow beauty bloggers’ blog that I had to get it once I get the chance to visit Etude House. I’m almost never that impulsive when it comes to getting nail colours, so you can probably tell that this time round is different!

I actually spent two hours doing my nails from painting them layers by layers, to waiting for them to dry and then to pasting the decal stickers. The decal stickers application were rather easy but I had no experience prior to this so I ended up wasting a few of them.

How to paste the decal stickers:
1. Soak the decal stickers in lukewarm water for 10 to 20 seconds. In my case, it works even for normal temperature water.
2. Peel it off with your fingers. In my case, the stickers came out easily by just pushing it off a little.
3. Paste it on your nails (make sure nails are dry or they won’t stick) and trim or buff off the excess. I had problem with this step but trimming it with a scissors is easier than buffing off to me.

The nail polishes took about two to three coats for a full coverage and they actually have slight shimmers in it which I love! However, judging from the price, I’m expecting a better quality nail polishes and these were just average. I’m just truly madly deeply in love with the shades’ combination and the floral decal stickers. :)

Price: $16.90

Happy Chinese New Year Folks!!

I was told to change into their PJ and comfortable furry slippers which we were allowed to bring home thereafter. So I am in their oversized shirt and feeling like as if I’m on holiday! lol!

Orange Nails

Haven’t applied my nails with colours since my last gel nail cos I had no time and I had to give my nails a break because gel polish is so damaging to the nails! I don’t think I would give gel a try anytime soon even though it’s so convenient. And for the price, I don’t think it’s worth it to get my nails damaged.

I had this O.P.I nail polish in Nagellack for awhile as my birthday present but I didn’t try it on my fingernails before. I had always use them on my toes instead. Today is the first time I tried on fingers and I think they don’t look that bad! Cheers to having colours on my nails once again!

Pastel Yummilicious Nails

Haven’t been doing much of my NOTD (nails of the moment) cos I didn’t have time to do anything new. But TODAY I decided to try the pastel nails look!
Oh and surprisingly the colours combi really made my nails look so yummilicious!

Didn’t apply the yellow well cos the polish is turning dry already. This yellow isn’t pastel enough but that’s the only yellow available so I just made do with it. :p

The nail polishes I used from Topshop and TheFaceShop.
Topshop’s nail polish is very smooth and the brush made the application even and smooth. Not bad!

More pictures of my yummy nails:

Initially I didn’t think too much about having such colourful nails but I really love pastel colours on my nails and the combination works out pretty! Am in love with it already! <3

Valentine NOTM

Hello girls! V day is here!!
While some might argue that V day is just another marketing strategy and only fools celebrate it, I would like to differ. Yes, we may spend more on V day buying gifts or going for an expensive meal. But that’s just a day to show appreciation to your partner isn’t it? If you love ur partner, treat everyday like V day. But honestly, not everyone has the money or ideas to spend everyday like V day.
Sometimes, you need something to spice up the relationship, and V day is just one of that something. =)

Anw, check out my NOTM!

My Valentine Nail.
Decided to go simple on this occasion … glittery pink

From TheFaceShop.
Not cheap but quality is surprisingly good, texture is super smooth and easy to apply! One coat is enough to cover up the nails. Here, I applied two coats!

So enjoy your dates girls! ^-^
If you don’t have one, take the initiative and ask someone out.
It doesn’t have to be guys doing it all the time.

Retweeted @dressabelle this:

Check out what ur gifts say about you! Click Click

This year I’m giving my boyfriend some handmade gift, hmm as usual. haha! But I find this more meaningful and less hurtful for the pocket.

Nails: CNY festive nails

I’ve never ever stepped into any nail salons for manicure. Maybe I would some day, but for now, here’s my D.I.Y nails again!! For the Chinese New Year!

“Marry a Millionaire” by China Glaze Nail Polish. I’ve been looking for pretty glitters nail polishes for awhile now and nothing speaks so beautiful than this pretty purple glitters. The different patterns of glitters in this nail polish makes a pretty sheen and texture. I applied this over a layer of pink nail polish by TFS. 2 coats of Marry a Millionaire is enough to make this opaque.

This is so festive looking! I love it! ^-^

Clean & neat!

Back to having my french tip again.
Sometimes you get bored of fancy nails and all you want them to be is clean looking.
I remembered the first time I tried doing this I had to use tapes around the nails.
Now, all I need is a runny nail polish and I’ll be able to do the tip!

Practice makes perfect!

PS: Packing up my room makes me feel wonderful! My room is like my vanity room and it makes me happy when everything is in place and I have everything that a girl needs in a room; makeup corner, skincare corner, hair corner and lots of dresses. lol. I just realised I do have LOTS of dresses. Oh and of course a book shelf full of books.

Also, I just hauled a couple of items! Am intending to do a hauling entry every month just to show you what I’ve got and whether it’d be a miss or hit for me.
